Burlington workshop to explore benefits of seed saving

Seed saving was once a practice in common use, and a winter workshop will help to revive this practice for Burlington area gardeners.

Honey Creek Collective will be hosting a presentation by Holly Morgan, who is a subject matter expert when it comes to collecting and storing seeds.

The session will introduce the how, when, and whys of seed saving, including an exploration of how the practice has changed over time. The practicalities of this horticultural practice will be shared, and the attendees will learn which plants tend to give the best results.

Safely and correctly storing saved seeds will be discussed, and everyone will be given the opportunity to get some hands-on experience, and take some seeds home with them to grow in their own home garden or another location.

Knowing how to collect and store seeds for future use can be helpful to gardeners who want to try breeding their own plants as well as those who care about the environment. Holly Morgan will be sharing her knowledge of seed saving with attendees in this session, which will be offered on February 18. The venue is located at 8030 Townline Road in East Troy.

The materials fee for the workshop is $5.00, and this will be collected during the class.
