Burlington to get the Halloween shivers

Burlington is once again going to be the site of a Haunted Hayride & Walk, and registration is now open for this family-friendly Halloween event.

Held at 3363 Dyer Lake Drive at Camp Oh-Da-Ko-Ta, attendees begin the evening by boarding a haunted hay wagon and start their journey through the camp’s haunted woods. Everyone gets off the wagon at the Witch’s Kitchen for what the website describes as “divine morsels.”

What happens next is up to the visitor. Attendees can either return via the wagon or take their chances on a walk through the woods. The walk is rated as being moderately difficult with some stairs and inclines. The event’s website points out that small children might find it scary.

The Haunted Hayrides will be held October 21 to 22 and 28 to 29 beginning at 7:00 pm sharp, with the last wagon leaving with its load of guests at 9:20 pm. The ride lasts about 40 minutes once a wagon, which holds 25 to 30 people, has been loaded.

Those interested in attending this event can register online in advance, or at the Council Service Center in person at a cost of $8 per person, or they can wait and pay $10 at the door. Children aged three and younger get in free.

It is suggested that attendees dress warmly and bring cash to purchase light refreshments.
