Burlington’s own community theater group, The Burlington Haylofters, will be performing the Christmas musical “A Good old Fashioned Redneck Country Christmas” this year.
The group, which lays claim to being “one of Wisconsin’s oldest community theaters,” will be holding its performances of the musical at the historic Malt House Theater, which is located at 109 N. Main Street here in Burlington. Written by Kris Bauske, the musical will be directed by Pamela Schroeder. According to the theater group, the musical comedy addresses the possibility that the Wise Men where simply three ordinary guys, who while sidestepping problems on the home front stumbled upon “the greatest story ever told”.
The show is set in contemporary America and features as “wise men” Bill, Jimmy and Dave. Its Christmas Eve, but instead of staying home and singing carols and drinking hot cocoa, the men have set off on a hunting trip to the mountains to drink beer.
At home, the three men’s partners are less than pleased with their decision and it may take a Christmas miracle to reunite these couples and their families.
“A Good old Fashioned Redneck Country Christmas” will be performed Friday and Saturday nights December 3, 4, 10, and 11 starting at 7:30 pm and Sundays, December 5 and 12, at 2:00 pm.
