Mizuhiki is the Japanese art of wrapping smooth rocks with caning or other materials, and a Burlington area workshop will introduce the practice.
Honey Creek Collective in East Troy will be teaching the art of Mizuhiki during a four-hour class, and tickets start at $45 each. Its listing explained that the practice has been performed for thousands of years, and the session will bring it into the modern age.
The attendees will be walked through the steps of wrapping their stone, and a materials fee, which includes the caning, will be applied by the instructor. They will learn how to craft various designs as they work with smooth river rocks. The completed project can be displayed by a hearth or other location in a home.
Everyone has been asked to bring a small pair of wire cutters as well as a flathead screwdriver. There are enough spots in the class for 12 participants.
No matter how old a person may be, they may still appreciate the opportunity to learn a new skill along with other interested individuals. Workshops provide the opportunity to do so, and a flyer printing company can prepare an assortment of effective marketing materials for an event.
This in-person introduction to the ancient Japanese art of Mizuhiki will be offered on Saturday, January 18. It will begin at 10:00 am.
