Students and staff at Burlington High School recently showed that when it comes to bullying, they can be strong enough to stand up to it and make a change.
It came to the attention of staff that a social media application was being used to tease certain students at the school, and they took immediate action. The issue appeared to rise up almost overnight, starting on Monday, October 20. By Tuesday, access to the site had been blocked within the school, and a letter was sent to parents outlining the problem and what had been done to correct it.
The teachers and students did not stop there; some of them decided to stay after school on the Thursday evening and create individual notes of affirmation, one of which was left on the locker of every student so that they would see them when they got there on Friday. Members of the school’s sports teams were called upon to help with this, demonstrating that there was a zero tolerance attitude towards bullying.
Bullying via social media has become an issue of concern in many schools, but there are steps that can be taken to prevent it. An awareness campaign can be created, and poster printing companies can help by working with the students to design and then Print Posters and other promotional materials.Get a Free Quote for Posters Get a Free Quote for Print
