The building that the BASD will be moving into is owned by the district. It is close to Karcher Middle School. It is sometimes used as a backup location for Fox River Consortium. This particular service will relocate to Lincoln School when renovations on the two buildings are completed. Print shops could be visited for assistance in decorating a new location.
Board member, Barry Schmaling, supported the move by saying:
“I think it has been a long-time coming, the existing building has served its purpose.”
The district is financing is the swap to the tune of $1.5 million. Officials are fairly certain that the actual cost will be lower based on the fact that most of the district’s referendum projects were completed within the budget. The board decided that it was time to move because the building that houses Lincoln School is no longer able to serve the district’s needs for an office setting. The decision was made after a motion passed that approved giving the architectural contract for the new offices to Scherrer Construction on the condition that the project costs less than $1.5 million.
The district hopes to get the required funding through a referendum that was approved in 2018. It will also dip in the $350,000 that it has in a contingency fund.
