Proposals sought for improvements to Baraboos east side
The city of Baraboo has decided that it is time for its east side business district to undergo a revitalization, and the services of a consultant are being sought.
The east side used to contain a variety of bustling shops, services, restaurants, and other enterprises, but over time, many of them relocated to the corridor along US Highway 12. As the east side is a gateway for those coming in and out of the city, the plan is for it to be revitalized so that it can once again thrive.
The planner will be asked to study the area and come up with recommendations that can be implemented to improve the area in question. This could mean anything from instituting business development programs, installing new signage and making other improvements to the storefronts, and securing low interest loans from the state. A variety of promotional products can be designed to further market the district.
A team set up by the council will review the proposals and choose up to four finalists. They will then be interviewed and chosen bid will be sent to city council for approval.
The Baraboo Economic development Commission has put a plan in place called ‘Grow Baraboo’. The east side project will be undertaken as a spin-off from that effort.
The deadline for the submission of proposals is February 25. They can be submitted via the City of Baraboo’s website.
