Friends of Devils Lake State Park offers a variety of activities throughout the year, and one planned for February will offer frosty outdoor fun.
The Baraboo group has organized a Torchlit Hike for the park. A family-friendly event, the route is approximately a mile and a half long and is suitable for those who enjoy a leisurely winter walk.
The activity, which is scheduled for the evening, will see its registrants meet up at the Rock Elm Shelter, after which they will take to the trail. The route will be illuminated by torches as well as the moon and stars. At the end, everyone will be invited to gather by a roaring bonfire and warm up over cups of hot chocolate and s’mores. A sing along is also in the works. Snowshoes may be available, depending on the weather.
There is no registration fee being charged for this winter hike, but donations to Friends of Devil's Lake State Park will be appreciated. A brochure printing company can prepare material to hand out to the participants in a function, providing them with information about the activity as well as the organization it supports.
Details Lake State Park will be welcoming this winter walk set for Saturday, February 21. It will take to the trail at 5:30 pm and wrap up at 7:30 pm.
