Each year, Baraboo bears witness to the spectacle of the fall and spring sandhill crane migrations. These iconic birds will be celebrated over a weekend next month.
The 2026 Great Midwest Crane Fest will be a gathering dedicated to conservation, ensuring that the cranes will continue their flight for years to come. It will be a full weekend of activities, and viewing tours are on the list.
Tickets for the two days start at $40 for adults, and as the organizers hope to spark an interest in crane conservation in area kids, there will be specially priced passes for them, while those under five may take part free of charge. There will be activities set up at the Aldo Leopold Foundation as well as the International Crane Foundation, and these include presentations, nature walks, guided tours, and workshops.
To help spread the word about the festival and the birds it supports, an assortment of Promotional Products, including T-shirts and Posters, will be on offer for purchase. Featuring artwork designed by Alex Lehner, these will be sold at gift shops while the event takes place.
The 2026 Great Midwest Crane Fest will take place in Baraboo on November 14th and 15th. Additional information about the venue locations, activities, add-ons, and a chance to purchase tickets have been made available on the festival’s website.
