Baraboo welcomes Winter Quarters

Winter can be a time for frosty fun, and Baraboo residents won’t have to travel far to experience lots of excitement this season.

Dubbed ”circus city” Baraboo was once the winter headquarters for the Ringling Bros. Circus, and today, it is home to several museums that celebrate this heritage. There will be a variety of activities on offer, and many establishments have organized activities and discounts available.

The city offers at least five museums and historic venues that are circus themed, and there are also structures to view that once housed their performers. Known as “winter quarters” this time of the year will include special discounts available at local lodging establishments and the activities in the works include everything from murder mysteries to ghost hunts, theatre performances, self-guided tours, a Cocoa Crawl and the city’s Winterfest. This is all part of Baraboo’s initiative to make it a winter “staycation” destination and also attract visitors from further afield.

Communities that have a variety of activities planned for a season often have special guides prepared by brochure printing companies that provide details as well as information about dates and timings. These can include full color photos and other design elements.

Baraboo will be celebrating winter with its "Winter Quarters” initiative, which will be running on weekends starting on January 16th. The final instalment will be held on February 6th to February 8th.
