Local school introduces course for the medically minded

A new course offering will be available to Baraboo High School students starting next year.

The school board recently approved the establishment of several new school programs, one of which will lead to those students who take it being able to gain qualifications as Basic Emergency Medical Technicians.

The course will be taught by staff from the Baraboo District Ambulance Service (BDAS), and was designed through the cooperation of the BDAS’ training coordinator, the high school’s nurse, and the principal. It took some time to develop the course and to ensure it had the components to meet the state requirements needed for approval.

Once they have completed the course, students should also find it much easier to become certified in other states. According to the training coordinator, it is expected that many of the students who choose to take the course will go on to seek careers in the medical profession.

This is just one of the new class offerings being added to the high school curriculum, designed to help students gain practical skills that they can use in their future careers or education at a college or university.

When a new course like this is set up, it may require the use of printed materials. A Print company will be able to provide these, as well as any other custom printed items that are needed by the students who choose to take it.
