Ringling Brothers Circus got its start here in Baraboo in 1884 and traveled first by colorfully painted horse-drawn wagons, and later by train, to take its show on the road. In 1919 Ringling Bros. merged with Barnum & Bailey to eventually tour not only the United States but the whole world.
The “Greatest Show on Earth” officially came to an end in 2017, but Circus World has preserved much of its history. It presents for viewing the most expansive collection of rare photographs, classic Posters, circus wagons, and other circus memorabilia in the world, so attendees can see some high-quality poster here.
On March 21, 2022 Circus World will be reopening so that children of all ages can discover the many wonders in the National Landmark Ringling Winger Quarter buildings. Dave SaLoutos, who since 1985 has been Circus World’s master of ceremonies, will be on hand bid farewell to visitors with:
“Let all your days be circus days. And may all of your circus dreams come true.”
Circus World is open March 21 to May 19 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm weekdays. Tickets can be purchased online or onsite at the box office on the day of the visit. General admission is $9.99, seniors pay $7.99, and children ages 5-12 pay $4.99.
