Furniture company donates beds for Christmas

A group of children in the Baraboo area will be getting better sleep at night thanks to a donation that should arrive in time for Christmas.

The program is being sponsored by bedroom furniture company Slumberland. The store, which has a location in Baraboo, sought the assistance of Mary Wilkes from Reach Out Lodi to help with the project. The program is called Homes for the Holidays, and was made possible for this year thanks to the spirit of donations and Corporate Gifts commonly seen during the holiday season.

Wilkes, who is Reach Out Lodi’s managing director, feels that working with Slumberland on such a project is a “perfect fit.” She sent a call out to people who frequent ROL looking for support. In a statement to the press, she said:

“I started calling some of our customers and asked them what their situation was with beds. Some were just in tears. How heartwarming it is that 14 children will have a brand new bed.”

An active supporter of local communities, Slumberland has been helping children rest easy at night by giving beds to families that need them since 1993. The company has donated over 45,000 beds in that time through Homes for the Holidays, and with assistance from the 40 Winks Foundation.

Wilkes was pleasantly surprised by how the community stepped in to donate extra bedsheets, a set of which will be donated with each bed.
