The Wisconsin school that ranked highest on the list was the University of Wisconsin-Madison at No. 49, with the next to in the state ranked at No. 159 – Marquette University in Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire at No. 252.

In compiling its list, Forbes considered factors such as the percentage of students who graduated on time, landed high paying jobs, and continued on to build successful careers. Also taken into consideration was the amount of post-graduation student debt.
U.S. military academies were ranked on a separate list and schools with fewer than 300 undergraduates were not included.
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology was ranked the number one school in the country.
