Circus celebration returns to enthrall Baraboo residents

The annual Big Top parade has grown to become a major Baraboo attraction over the years, and it will be held with a difference this year.

Due to ongoing restrictions for ensuring safety during the pandemic, the traditional parade will not be held this year. However, the celebration will have family-friendly events and live musical entertainment, all centered on Baraboo’s long association with circus and performers.

Hoping to recreate the experience amid current restrictions, the event will showcase an imaginative parade of elephants, of which more details will follow in the near future. On the Saturday, circus enthusiasts can visit Circus World to see Big Top shows featuring three elephants and talented circus performers. Parks in the area will have live music, entertainment and food trucks during the event.

On the Saturday and Sunday, visitors can go on trolley tours to see the site where the Ringling Circus returned for the winter months during the 19th and 20th Century. On the Sunday, visitors can participate in the Circus Celebration car show organized by the Baraboo Area Chamber of Commerce. Organizers of such events usually use flyer printing to spread the word.

The events will be held on the Saturday and Sunday of July 10 and 11. The Big Top shows will be on July 10 at Circus World, while the Trolley Tours will be conducted on July 10 and 11 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The Car Show will be on July 11 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Slumberland parking lot.
