Baraboo to welcome summer with Art June

The 56th annual fine arts and craft festival organized by the Sauk County Art Association will return to Baraboo this summer.

Called Art June and held on the third Saturday in June, the event brings together 50 to 75 artists from all over the Midwest.

The creations from these artists are juried by a panel and the best artists are awarded cash prizes. For participating artists, entries sent before April 30 were accepted for the first call, but late entries will still be accepted until June 12. All applicants pay a jury fee of $10.

The event is free to attend and visitors can buy handmade art, including paintings, photos, sculptures, glass and fiber art, ceramics, and jewelry. The event will also have activities for children, poetry, and live music. The venue is close to the Al. Ringling Theatre. Visitors can also hop over to the downtown shops, restaurants, and galleries. It will be held rain or shine, and there is no admission fee.

Prior to June 2015, this art show was called Summer Art Classic and was held in August. As with other summer events in Baraboo such as the Fair on the Square and the farmers’ market, residents can expect changes this year to incorporate social distancing and safe shopping. Artists and vendors can help buyers remember them by handing out Business Cards.

The art festival will be held on June 19 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Sauk County Courthouse Square lawn.
