A school in Baraboo was recently acknowledged for promoting positive behavior within its student body.
Gordon L. Wilson Elementary was rewarded Wisconsin State by being made a Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports School of Merit. It received this designation for the way it has been able to encourage its students to engage in positive behavior by implementing different elements of the Wisconsin Response to Intervention Frameworks.
The school has developed a policy of teaching its pupils to follow the ‘Three Bs’, which are to be responsible, be safe, and be respectful. This has enhanced the capability to teach positive behaviour in all of the children who attend the school.
Several innovative programs have been set up at the school to reward good behaviour. One of these is the Wildcat Coupon system, where students receive coupons for proper classroom behavior. These can be collected and used for classroom rewards.
Classes can also collect Golden Awards if they demonstrate aspects like good etiquette in the lunchroom, walking quietly in hallways, and generally showing respect to the other students at the school.
For a program such as this that provides tangible Forms of recognition for positive behavior, one idea could be to have a printing company create a plaque to be awarded to the classes or students; particularly those who have consistently demonstrated respectful and positive actions.Get a Free Quote for Forms
