What's Happening in Baraboo, WI…

Baraboo sale boasts top tomatoes

Thanks to a Baraboo workshop, more people will be able to enjoy the experience of chomping into a tomato fresh from the vine.

The Baraboo Civic Center hosts a variety of community activities, and its Terrific Tomato Plant Sale will help local households access a variety of cultivars that tend to do well in local gardens. Admission to the event will be free, and it has been scheduled for the morning hours.

A wide variety of cultivars will be on offer, and some of the types that were represented at last fall’s Tomato Tasting will be in the mix. A free workshop will offer tips for successfully growing these popular crops in the home garden. To add even more fun, there will be an assortment of other vegetable and flower starts for sale. As these have been grown by Sauk County Master Gardeners, they will have a local provenance, tying in with the event’s theme of putting Wisconsin growers first.

Pop-up plant sales are often popular activities during the spring months. Print shops can supply everything from tags, labels, and signage to promotional products such as cloth shopping totes.

This chance for Baraboo gardeners to enjoy some fresh tomatoes is scheduled for Saturday, May 17. The sale will run from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm, and the workshop will begin at 10:00 am.
