Tranel will be replacing Principal Dave Schwarz who is retiring. Tranel’s contract has yet to begin but she is already doing what she can to get the lay of the land before she officially starts in the new position. Without stepping on the outgoing principal’s toes, she feels that she can learn a lot before he officially retires in the summer. Business card printing is popular among people starting new executive jobs.
Tranel commented to say:
“I put myself in the staff’s position, coming off the heels of a really challenging year and really wanting to be cognizant of the fact that they’re getting a new district leader, they’re getting a new building…and a new principal.”
The Baraboo school board voted unanimously in favor of hiring Tranel. Board member Tim Heilman felt that she was the best option because the school has recently been suffering from a dip in staff morale and numerous disciplinary issues with the students. Lori Mueller believes that Tranel could turn these issues around because she has a track record of improving student behavior and giving educators innovative ways to operate.
The hiring process started with a list of several candidates that was whittled down to just two after a series of interviews.
