Baraboo area event to welcome watermelon lovers

Camping can be a fun activity for families, and a Baraboo campground has a special weekend of fun on the way for parents and kids to enjoy together.

The crew at Skillet Creek Campground will be welcoming watermelon lovers for two days of summertime fun. It is intended to be enjoyed by all ages, and site bookings may be made now.

The celebration will kick off with a movie night, and the campers can bring along a folding chair so they can sit back and enjoy the show. Popcorn will be on offer for purchase, and the audience will be treated to a screening of “Paws of Fury:The Legend of Hank”. The next day, the Campstore will sell supplies for crafting handmade stuffed animals to keep as souvenirs of the weekend. The kits may be purchased for $25 each.

The Saturday afternoon will see participants put their appetite to the test in a watermelon eating competition, and the kids can make a craft inspired by this summertime favorite. As the evening draws to close, campers will head out for a glow parade, and they can either use their own gear or buy some on site.

Organizing themed activities can help a campground or other venue to attract an even wider pool of clientele. Banner printing services for an occasion will be available at area Print shops.

Skillet Creek Campground will be welcoming one and all for its Watermelon Weekend starting on August 4.
