Smells Like Nirvana, a Nirvana tribute band, will be appearing in the neighboring city, recreating the hits of the original group. The event is still showing as scheduled at the time of writing.
The tribute band is based in Chicago, and the current lineup includes Paul Wandtke, formerly with Trivium, vocalist and guitarist; Mike Petrasek, formerly with Bedlem, on bass; and drummer Sean McCole. All three are professional musicians as well as huge Nirvana fans.
The name of the group, comes from the Nirvana hit “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” and the band seems to have the attitude of the original band. When they played, Nirvana did not use backing tracks or click tracks, unlike most of their contemporaries. Smells Like Nirvana has continued that tradition, and concentrates on the power of the music without adding embellishment.
Reviews of the tribute band are enthusiastic. One raved:
“This show was absolutely amazing. So much fun. Couldn't have asked for a better show.”
A second was more straight to the point, and said:
“Awesome night.”
Smells Like Nirvana will appear at the Knitting Factory Concert House, on West Sprague Avenue in Spokane, this Friday, April 3, at 8:00 pm, although the coronavirus situation may yet see it postponed. Poster printing is an excellent method to use to create striking advertising for events like this.
