Huge pop group to perform near Spokane Valley

One of the greatest of the “boy bands” is set to appear in the Spokane Valley next month.

The Backstreet Boys first got together in Orlando, Florida, in 1993, and released their first album, “Backstreet Boys,” internationally in 1996. During their long career, they have sold more than 100 million records across the globe, making them one of the world’s best-selling boy bands.

The group’s first 10 albums all made it into the top 10 on the Billboard 200 chart, making them the first band since Led Zeppelin to achieve this milestone. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) gave both “Millennium” and “Backstreet” Diamond status, making the Backstreet Boys one of a handful of bands to have several items go Diamond.

In 2013, their star was added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and they enjoyed a two-year residency in Las Vegas, called “Backstreet Boys: Larger Than Life.”

Their sound evolved from a mix of hip-hop, balladry, dance club pop, and R&B, to pop rock. They shifted gears again to adult contemporary on their “Never Gone” album. A review says:

“And the Backstreet Boys . . . put on a stellar, rapid-fire show of dancing, ballads and belting.”

The Backstreet Boys will appear August 21 at 7:30 pm, at the Spokane Veteran Memorial Arena in Spokane. When events like this are scheduled, organizers want to publicize them widely, and using poster printing will enable them to create advertising that will attract audiences.
