Traditional tamales hail from Mexico, and are a popular dish that doesn't have to be complicated to make. A class that combines learning with a lot of laughs will be sharing tips for making top notch tamales, and it will be on offer near Puyallup.
When the students arrive for their lesson, they will be treated to a dinner of freshly made tamales, served with homemade salsa and other toppings. They can choose from pork or chicken, and once the meal is over, the hands-on portion of the evening will begin.
The learners will each make their own batch of tamales, which they can take away with them to steam once they are home. Everyone from beginners to experienced chefs are welcome, and they will discover how to both make the masa and then roll out the tamales. The participants have been asked to bring along a sharp knife and apron, and anyone with questions or who has specific dietary or accessibility concerns can contact the organizer at mollystamales.classes@gmail.com.
A casual event like this can be a lot of fun, and it can be a great idea for a date night or evening with friends. Printed instructions can be handed out to the group to make it easier for them to prepare the tamales at home, and Stationery printers will be able to make them.
This chance to learn how to prepare some traditional Mexican cuisine will be on offer on November 20. It will be taking place at 628 St. Helens Ave.
