Puyallup says Prost for Oktoberfest

A popular festival is coming back to Puyallup.

Oktoberfest Northwest is the traditional German harvest festival that started in Bavaria and spread throughout the world. Manuela Horn, a 6’2” Austrian-born actress, comedian, and singer, is the host for the three-day celebration. Attendees can look forward to enjoying “oompah” music, real German food as well as cold German beer, which will be served in steins. After sunset, live entertainment will rock the Festhalle.

Entertainers this year include the Bavarian Beer Garden Band, which plays traditional German music, and the Enzian Schuhplattler Dancers, who perform regional dances from Austria and Germany, wearing costumes from the area.

Also scheduled to perform are The Hosen Ones, an 80’s heavy rock and classic rock band; Z Musikmakers, a polka band; The Afterparty Band, an upbeat outfit; and Manuela Horn, who will offer Manuela Horn & The Brew Crew, a beer-themed, high-energy show with full audience participation.

Oktoberfest also includes a ceremonial tapping of a keg, Stein Dash 5K, and Wiener Dog Races, so there is something everyone will enjoy. The 5K will be held Sunday and includes three stops for beer along the route. There is also an event for the children, the Kids Root Bear 1/2K Dash, with a cold root beer at the end.

Oktoberfest Northwest is scheduled for October 9-11 at the Washington State Fair Event Center in Puyallup. Organizers of events like this can help them benefit by working with banner printing to create course markers for the 5K race.
