Puyallup gets ready for festival

The 78th Annual Meeker Days Arts and Music Festival will be in full swing in a few weeks. The festival will be a celebration of the history of our area, as well as a kick-off event for summer.

Three stages will have live rock, country, alternative and blues music along with entertainment for the children. Some of the children entertainment will be a magician, dancing, and cheer routines. There will also be the Lil’ Miss Meeker Pageant.

Children will also get to see the Washington State Fair Traveling Farm Exhibit. This will be a 48-foot long trailer that houses hands-on farm related exhibits.

Two food courts will offer the usual summer treats such as corn dogs, ice cream, and elephant ears. Charlie’s Restaurant will have games for the kids and beverages for the adults.

Over 200 booths will have crafts, and an assortment of items for sale from commercial groups. Information Flyers and Brochures will be available at the nonprofit booths. Local organizations and groups will be displaying educational exhibits such as the antique tractor display, while kids can jump around on inflatables.

Buick will be putting on a classic car show Saturday, then Pontiac will have its show on Sunday.

The event will be in Pioneer Park 324 S. Meridian, Puyallup from 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm on Friday, June 16, 10:00 am until 9:00 pm on June 17, and Sunday from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on June 18.
