The 13th annual Tacoma Wayzgoose letterpress and book arts extravaganza is taking place at the end of this month.
The festival allows local printers and artists the opportunity to show off their talents. It also allows the public to try their hand at screen printing; visitors can bring their own T-Shirts or fabrics and create a souvenir to take home. They will also learn how to make paper from scratch.
One of the most popular parts of this two-day festival is steamroller printing. Artists will carve illustrations in linoleum, add the ink, and then a full-sized steamroller will roll over it to create a 3x3-foot Print on paper. Some of the participating artists in this activity are Brian Hutchison, Tina McGregor, and Maggie Roberts. Stadium High School will also be taking part.
Many local printing and artistic groups will also be showcasing their art. These include the Cartoonist’s League of Absurd Washingtonians, the Tacoma Girls Rock Camp, and the Tacoma Historical Society.
This event will probably attract people interested in graphic design from all over the county, including Puyallup.
