The holidays are almost here and many communities in Washington are getting ready to celebrate, with the Hometown Holiday Celebration being one example this November.
Hosted by the Sumner Downtown Association, stores along Main Street will be decorating their windows to fit with the holiday inspired theme. There will be open houses and holiday specials. In addition, sidewalk carol singers will be strolling along the street.
Later on in the month, the Bridge Lighting and Fireworks event is taking place at the Stuck River Bridge. The event opens with speeches from local officials like Mayor Dave Enslow, followed by music from Billy Farmer's Diamond Experience. There will be hot cider and cocoa, roasted nuts, and cookies to enjoy. In addition, holiday shopping can be carried out at the vendor's village.
The evening will finish off with carol singing and a fireworks display. Those attending are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to help kick off the Sumner Food Bank holiday drive.
These events will probably attract plenty of residents, as well as those from nearby cities such as Puyallup. Many of the store owners are likely to invest in services like banner printing from local printing companies to make their windows festive.
The Hometown Holiday Celebration is taking place on November 15 from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm, while the Bridge Lighting happens on November 28 beginning at 5:30 pm. To find out more about both events, call 253-720-9846.
