The 12th annual Wayzgoose Letterpress and Book Arts Extravaganza is taking place for two days beginning at the end of this month.
The event is presented by King's Books, the Tacoma Arts Commission, Puget Sound Book Artists, and Tacoma Sunrise Rotary.
Visitors will have the chance to Print their own keepsakes, learn how to make paper, and create paper items. There will also be steamroller printing that will create 3’ x 3’ prints created by local artists, which will then be given away as prizes.
As a way of celebrating Independent Bookstore Day on April 30, the steamroller will be driven by various local authors, such as Tom Llewellyn, Laurie Cinotto, and Marissa Meyer. The theme of the prints will be the literary heritage of Tacoma.
Attendees are also invited to bring a T-shirt or a piece of fabric to Print a design by Shroom Brothers.
This event is a great way for people from the area, including those from nearby Puyallup, who do not work for graphic design or printing companies to learn some background about the printing process.
The Wayzgoose Letterpress and Book Arts Extravaganza will be held at King's Books in Tacoma from April 30 to May 1 from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM each day. To learn more about this event, contact King's Books at 253-272-8801.
