Due to a change in the state’s regulations, hemp can now be grown in Washington state, and an upcoming workshop will be help in Olympia that will give farmers advice and tips on how they can farm the crop successfully.
Hemp Ace International’s Joey Beckerman, who is an expert in the field, will be presenting details about the State department of Agriculture’s new program with regard to this agricultural product. Techniques such as integrated pest management (IPM), cover cropping, and more will be discussed, as will soil conservation methods.
Jeff Kostiuk, B.Gs, T.Ag, CCA., who is a hemp expert from Canada will also be participating in a question and answer session. He has many years of experience in the agricultural sector, and will be sharing this expertise.
Tips will be provided about such topics as cultivar choice, field preparation, crop rotations, seed planting, weed control, and harvesting. These will all be discussed in the context of industrial hemp cultivation.
