Construction of the new Hampton Inn and Suites, which is located at 4301 Martin Way East, is expected to being in May of this year.
The site is currently being cleared and made ready for the work, and if things go as planned, it will open by June of 2016. The vice president and chief financial officer of overseeing firm AmeriTel Inns, Scott Ableman, said he was “excited to be there”. Due to some issues, it has taken several years for the building to begin.
The facility will have four floors and 123 rooms, as well as an indoor pool, an exercise area, an area for patrons to enjoy breakfast, meeting rooms, and a small onsite store. It is expected that it will provide employment for between 28 to 32 people from the area. It will likely also generate business for firms that provide materials and support, such as business card printing companies and Stationery printers. This can provide a boost to the local economy.
The grounds of the hotel will offer space for the 25 trees that currently grow there, as well as 86 more that will be planted on the site. According to The Olympian, several local hotels are in the process of facelifts, but this will be the first new hotel construction to take place in the city in several years.
