Olympia to host park planning meetings

Residents of Olympia will soon have a chance to have their say when it comes to the parks in the city.

The city council will be hosting eight neighborhood outreach meetings to give everyone a chance to let their voice be heard. So far, suggestions for the parks include new soccer fields, community gardens, more trails, and a dog park. The wishing to provide their input using alternative methods will have an opportunity to do so. Online and telephone responses will be welcomed.

The city has commissioned a $60,000 study to determine what should be done with the five possible new sites for the park, and the findings will be presented at an upcoming city council meeting.

One idea for the future of these sites comes from the LDA Woods Park Coalition, which is seeking to protect 150 acres of wooded land. So far, it has obtained 5,200 signatures on a petition in favor of the plan. It is expected that this will be one of the groups at the neighborhood meetings.

Sessions like this that allow the public to have their voice heard can be a way for people to have a say in what goes on in their community. Printing companies can produce survey and response Forms for people to fill out. Once the results have been gathered, they can Print bound Copies to be distributed to stakeholders and other interested parties.
