An upcoming Olympia workshop will demonstrate, using hands-on techniques, that even the weediest of garden trimmings can be turned into something special.
The facilitators of the Weaving Weeds Workshop will teach how to craft weeds, vines, garden trimmings, and invasive plants into a useful and decorative basket. At the end of the class, all the students will be able to have a handmade piece to take home with them.
During the session, the participants will learn how to choose the materials they will use, and also how to harvest them and then prepare them for use. The teacher for this event will be Irene Hinkle, who has over 40 years of experience as a fiber artist. The class can accommodate up to 15 people, so anyone who is interested is encouraged to sign up early to ensure they get a spot.
The registration fee for this two-day workshop is $15 per day, and the classes will be two hours long each. Full color pamphlets and other materials that provide more information about an event like this can be prepared by a local brochure printing company.
