When it comes to gardening and landscape design, native plants have a whole lot to offer. Olympia green thumbs who want to snag some new plants for their beds will be able to do so when they attend a function that will bring the area’s gardening community together.
This day of fun, learning and maybe even picking out some new plants will showcase the many benefits that come with choosing native plants. They are well adapted to local pests, climate and other conditions, and Thurston Conservation will be welcoming the whole family to its annual Native Plant Festival and Sale.
The plans for the day include chances for the attendees to learn, as there will be workshops, presentations and other activities. There will be vendor booths to browse through that can offer plenty of gardening tips and other assistance, and at the demo booths, the guests can learn planting techniques in person.
For many, one of the main draws of the function will be a chance to purchase some inexpensive native plants. Tags and Booklets that include planting tips and other advice can help the shoppers who come to this sort of sale to give their new green friends the right care, and Print shops can provide them.
This chance for Olympia to “go native” will be open to the plant loving public on February 29. The Thurston County Fairgrounds will be the location for the festival.
