Nearly all life depends on water, and this vital substance will serve as the centerpoint of an activity that will be hosted by the WET Science Center.
Olympia families keen to learn more about how water makes it from its source to their kitchen faucet, or how wastewater is treated, may find the Wonderful World of Water event to be of special interest. It is for those ages 10 and up, and closed-toed shoes are mandatory.
This activity will explore how water is used by both humans and the natural world, and the games and crafts on the agenda will also serve as learning opportunities. A tour of the Budd Inlet Treatment Plant will take place in the afternoon, and this will offer a sneak peek into how wastewater and other effluents are treated before being released back into the environment. The runtime for this event is six hours.
Offering an open-house style activity gives the public a chance to learn more about local infrastructure, including how it works and what is needed to keep it operating smoothly. Handouts for a function will be on offer at area Stationery printers, which can also craft Promotional Products for a specific activity.
The Wonderful World of Water will begin at 10:00 am on December 10. The venue for the day will be 500 Adams Street North East in Olympia.
