Each year, chum salmon make their return to the rivers and streams around Olympia, and a special celebration will welcome them back.
The event, which has been dubbed “Salmon and Cider” will be held at McLane Creek Nature Trail, will introduce the public to the life cycle of Pacific salmon and the role they play in the ecology of their habitats. It is being organized by Stream Team, and it is being offered to the community free of charge.
Those who come out to join in the fun will be offered free hot cider and donuts prepared in the local area. Volunteer Salmon Stewards will be on site throughout the function to answer questions from the crowd, and they will also share a variety of ways the public can lend these long distance traveling fish a helping hand. A Discovery Pass is required to participate in the activity.
