The American Cancer Society depends upon its Relay For Life campaign to help raise funds, and an equestrian event was held in Olympia this month as the area looked to lend a hand to the cause.
The January 17 event was organized and hosted by the Relay For Life team Kids and Kritters Daycare Krushing Kancer, with event organizer Cherie Crabill at the helm. It was held at Flying M Stables, and 30 riders of all ages and their horses took part.
The 30 equestrians participated in four different events: figure eights, barrel racing, California stake, and pole bending challenges. There was also a silent auctions and craft sale. The activities ran for most of the day, and it was the first year that the team had hosted such an event.
Crabill believes that it is the only such fundraising gaming event being held in Olympia. By the time funds are totted up, the team hopes to have raised $7,500 for the Relay For Life.
Print companies can create materials to help spread the word about the activities, and they can also produce items like award certificates for the winners and ‘thank you’ certificates for all those who took part.
