What's Happening in Olympia, WA…

An Olympia-based brewing company has done itself, and the whole city, proud at the recently held World Beer Awards.

Fish Brewing Co.’s ‘Fish Tale Ale’s Beyond the Pale Ale’ took first place, which earned it the title of ‘2015 World’s Best Beer’.

In order to earn this accolade, the brew was first entered into a regional competition, and once it had done well there, it was pitted against beers from Europe and Asia to determine the winner for World’s best Style. From this grouping, the choices were made for the different World’s Best Categories, with the top spot being the World’s Best Beer.

Fish’s entry held its own against 1,000 beers from over 30 countries. It was blind tasted by a panel of judges, who scored each entry. This took place over two rounds, and then a final two more in London. During this portion of the event, the different beers were tasted by a panel that included journalists and other industry experts, as well as 50 brewers from all over the world. They then voted for their favorites.
