Though both have kept some of their current responsibilities, and will remain separate legal entities each with their own board of directors, they will hold their board meetings at the same time and these will be governed through the efforts of a joint executive committee. The president and CEO of the WRA now also leads the WLA.
Along with this, starting in 2016, the two groups will jointly launch a unified association, which will be named the Washington Restaurant and Lodging Association. This will have 6,000 members, and a company that provides marketing services will be able to design and Print a variety of promotional items for it to use to market itself both within the state and the rest of the world as well.
The CEO of the Washington restaurant Association noted that this is a very exciting time for the membership of the two associations, and that by combining their forces, they will be able to have greater influence, increased potential for innovation, and will be better able to face the challenges that may arise in the future of the hospitality industry.
