Upcoming festival to showcase area cultural groups

The 24th International Festival is returning to Longview this June. A presentation of the Ethnic Support Council, it also helps to finance some of its programs.

The day will feature multicultural music and dance performances, children's activities, and food concessions. Visitors will have the opportunity to shop in the world market for a variety of local and international merchandise.

Local community groups are also expected to be on hand to provide information on their programs and services. It should be a great way for members of the community to learn more about their neighbors, and for local companies and organizations to become better known to residents.

The Ethnic Support Council provides office assistance to local companies, including interpreters and translators in a variety of languages, including Russian, Cambodian, and Spanish. The next fundraiser for the organization, which is a dinner and auction, is set for this September in Longview.

Events like this are often widely advertised in the community. Longview printing companies regularly provide such low-cost products as Signs, Flyers, and Banners to help spread the word about upcoming events.

The International Festival is taking place at the Cowlitz County Expo Center on June 7 from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm. Admission is free. For more information, or to make a donation, contact Cindy Lopez Werth at 360-751-4427.
