Chance to celebrate Texas comes to Longview

Life Works is holding its 6th annual ‘Jeans and Jewels’ fundraiser this September.

The theme of this year's event is Dallas, and there will be lots of activities in keeping with that idea. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their best Western gear.

There will be a mechanical bull, a Wild West shooting game, horseshoe and football tosses, and calf roping. All of the food and drink served will also be in fitting with the theme; a variety of heavy hors d'oeuvres will be served and there will be a cash bar. Guests can also enjoy a Western-style saloon.

Silent auctions and grand prize drawings will be taking place during the evening. It is likely that all of these items will have been donated by local businesses and individual.

Life Works is an organization that provides support and housing for children and adults with developmental disabilities. It also aims to instill self-esteem in its clients and allow them to live independent lives.
