Longview goes more squirrely than usual this August
Squirrel Fest is returning to Longview next month. This popular festival pays tribute to the abundance of squirrels in the city and helps to highlight the five bridges located here for the rodents.
There will be lots of activities taking place suitable for all of the family. The event will kick off with the Go Nutty parade. Some planned activities include the Flying Squirrel zip line, Jumping Squirrel disc swings, a puppet workshop, and geocaching. There will also be face painting, games and bouncy swings for the kids, as well as the Happy Kids 5K. Children can also take a circus workshop where they can practice such skills as juggling, tightrope walking, stilts, and the plate spin.
For the adults, there is a beer and wine garden located close to the music stage, which has a cover charge of $2. Food and beverages will be available elsewhere and arts and crafts vendors will also be selling their handmade items.
There are set to be musical performances from such artists as Freak Mountain Ramplers and Chance McKinney. Circus Cascadia will be performing, and there will be a fireworks display at 10:30 pm.
Longview brochure printers are often asked to help advertise events such as these through the community. A small booklet or brochure can easily be inserted into local newspapers to help spread the word.
Squirrel Fest is being held in and around Longview's Civic Circle on August 16 beginning at 9:00 am. For more information on this free-to-attend event, call 360-430-0273.
