Annual fair showcases the best in horsemanship

The Washington State Horse Expo is returning to the area for a 5th year this February.

The expo is set to feature demonstrations of mounted archery, chuck wagon riding, and dressage. There will be cow-dog demonstrations and a breed parade. Specials guests will include Spanky and Dally and miniature horses, while several clinics are planned to educate attendees on topics such as cow-dogs, horse training, riding, and the therapeutic uses of horses.

The Extreme Cowboy Race, which is taking place during the show, offers $2,500 in prizes to be shared among the top three finishers. The Equine Extravaganza, meanwhile, will feature the Black Pearls Dance Troup and horsemanship demonstrations.

There will also be plenty of children's activities and a large number of vendors who will be selling and showcasing horse-related merchandise and services. Guests will likely have the chance to pick up items such as saddles, dressage decorations, and clothing.

To advertise this show in the area, including to nearby Longview, organizers may work with local poster printing companies to create a product to be distributed and displayed in the community.

The Washington State Horse Expo is taking place at the Clark County Event Center at the Fairgrounds in Ridgefield from February 20 to 22. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors and youth. To learn more about this event, call 360-397-6170.
