Stormwater contractors, property managers, and landscapers are invited to an upcoming workshop entitled ‘How to Inspect & Maintain Stormwater Ponds & Other Facilities’.
The workshop, which is free, is a joint presentation of Thurston County, as well as the cities of Tumwater, Olympia, and Lacey.
It will include both indoor classes and hands-on field work. The subjects of the lectures include the requirements dictated by code, recommended practices, and how some common practices can lead to violations of code. Attendees will then have a chance to work through hands-on examples that will teach them how to identify and fix problems that commonly occur in both commercial and residential stormwater systems, including various types of ponds.
Participants who successfully complete the workshop have the option of being placed on a list of contractors that potential customers, like homeowners' associations, can contact for help with stormwater issues. The list will be posted on the City of Lacey's website.
The stormwater workshop is set to take place at the Tumwater City Hall on Israel Road in Tumwater, from 8:30 am until noon on Saturday, November 18.
