Thriving Thrive plans to expand

Thrive Community Fitness is living up to its name – so much so that Paul MacLurg, who owns the fitness center with his wife Debbie —wants to expand.

Currently, Thrive is in the Crossroads shopping mall, which is on Corporate Center Loop in Lacey. The new location will be located on College Street, in a building measuring 21,000 square feet. Thrive will take up 18,500 square feet of the space, and Mr. MacLurg says the rest can be leased to a second tenant. Moving to the new space will increase Thrive’s square footage by 4,100 SF.

Mr. MacLurg says that buying his own building and developing it to suit his needs makes good business sense. As the owner and mortgage holder, he can control his costs more effectively than he could with a lease.

Additionally, he needs more space. Today, 55 group exercise classes are held at Thrive, as opposed to 10 when it first opened. He also needs additional space for free weights and a weight room, and plans to add a children’s area and cardio equipment.

In addition, College Street is a busy thoroughfare, and the facility will be highly visible to motorists and pedestrians.

Efforts like this can benefit if operators work with a flyer printing company to create a mailer for area residents, announcing both the move and the classes offered.
