What's Happening in Lacey, WA…

Although the holidays are still months off, Lacey has already said it will present one of its cherished traditions.

The city has announced its plans to hold the annual Parade of Lights and Christmas Trees Lighting in December, but it has not given a specific date. However, a look at the 2019 event shows what to expect this year.

The first event is the Parade of Lights, in which businesses, organizations, and ordinary residents are invited to decorate their vehicles with as many Christmas lights as they can fit on the car, truck, school bus, or van, and drive through the streets of the city. City vehicles also take part, and Santa arrives on Lacey Fire District Three's “Santamobile,” an old-fashioned fire truck.

Once the procession has ended, the fun moves to Huntamer Park. Live music and a welcome from city officials get things started, and then a gigantic switch is thrown, and lights appear in the park. There is not simply one “city” tree, but trees throughout the park come to life, outlined in thousands of lights. Hot chocolate and other goodies are also part of the fun.

The event usually takes place early in the month, so Lacey residents should keep an eye out for further announcements. When outdoor events like this are planned, banner printing can be used for decorations and instructional signage, since it is sturdy and will hold up to poor weather.
