After a difficult year, people may be feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. A retreat in Lacey can change that.
Dr. Lisa Rayburn and Dr. Amy LaCroix will be leading a small, weekend retreat that offers stillness and silence, and a chance for people to relax and recharge. The retreat is open to everyone, and there is no spiritual discipline or meditation practice needed.
The first evening will consist of introductions, and participants will set their intentions for the retreat. People will be able to step away from their hectic lives and put aside their “to do” lists, appointments, meetings, social media, news, and technology. Instead, participants will enjoy the silence found only in nature. Using silence, meditation, and prayer, everyone will learn to become mindful, pay attention, and slow down.
The silence will begin with the lighting of candles in the meditation room. People may come to the retreat for journaling, guidance, spiritual insight, or simply to rest. The site of the retreat is the Gwinwood Retreat Center, which features a labyrinth, a lakeside chapel, a group meditation room, and forest trails. Those attending the retreat can make use of any of the center’s amenities in any way they choose.
During the weekend, Dr La Croix and Dr. Rayburn will make several presentations. The center will provide private rooms with linens, and light meals. Bathrooms are shared. The retreat is limited to ten persons. Flyer printing is often used to create schedules for attendees at events like this.
