What's Happening in Lacey, WA…

A Lacey building that housed three different restaurants is being repurposed, and will reopen as the Olympia Pet Emergency. The restaurant offers 5,000 square feet of space, but has been sitting unused since 2013.

The pet ER has grown to the point that it needs more space, and increased visibility. The emergency room is currently located on Pacific Avenue, but the facility can't be seen from the street. However, even though people have to hunt for it, the number using the facility's services has grown steadily since 1996. Part of the increase is due to growth in the general population, but some is due to the fact that people's expectations of the medical care their pets receive has changed.

Dr. Blair Burggren is the ER's medical director. He notes that people now routinely expect their pets will be cared for twenty-four hours a day. Four years ago, the facility began offering around-the-clock care to meet this need. However, the Olympia location is only 3,000 square feet, and rapidly ran out of room.

Among the amenities at the Lacey location will be an intensive care unit, a treatment area, a triage room, five exam rooms, and a lab and pharmacy. Cats and dogs will be housed in separate wards.

Pet parents are always concerned about good care, so facilities like this can benefit by working with a postcard printing company to announce the opening.
