Mixed media workshop coming to Lacey

An upcoming workshop, still going ahead as of the time of writing, will give attendees a chance to try their hand at a new event.

People who take the workshop, which is a Konnex event, will learn the technique of reverse silhouette painting, both in acrylic paints and watercolor.

Konnex is a company that hosts “paint and sip” parties, where people can gather for a social evening and also create an artwork. The company was founded by Rikki Bommersbachs, and the upcoming class will take place in her studio in Lacey, giving people who attend the class a chance to learn the craft in a working artist's studio.

The artwork attendees will create will be a “Reverse Silhouette” piece, but they will also have a lot of time to learn the technique and practice it before beginning the painting itself. From beginning to end, the class, including breaks, will last about 2.5 hours. Bommersbachs will be leading the class.

There will be treats including coffee, brunch pastries, and other refreshments included with the class fee. People of all ages are welcome to attend, but the session is recommended for those 16 years of age and older.

The studio is near Sleater-Kinney and College, and parking is on the street or in the driveway, though carpooling is suggested. Class members should enter through the side door and follow the Signs to the studio.

Provided it goes ahead, the workshop is set for April 11, from 9:00 am until 11:30 am. Flyer printing can provide instructional handouts for events like this.
