Local artists exhibit to end its run next month

The Washington Center for the Performing Art’s exhibit of Tom Anderson’s work will end in November. Titled “Decades,” the exhibit explores Anderson’s work with mixed media art.

Anderson is a local artist who has worked with different mediums like metal and stained glass. The exhibit will display three periods of his work, with each housed in a different part of the gallery.

On the main floor are some of Anderson’s early creations, which heavily utilize metals and painted wood. The mezzanine displays later work in Anderson’s art career, which employs a variety of mediums like printmaking, stained glass, sculptures, and more. Anderson’s most recent work fills up the balcony; these paintings use a mix of ink and acrylics to create fluid movements.

Entry to the exhibit will require appointments or purchased tickets. Visitors are also required to have proof of vaccination or a negative COVID result to enter. The center also holds other artists’ works throughout the year, which is usually promoted with the help of Print shops.

Decades will finish up on November 5th. Viewing appointments can be made anytime during weekdays from noon to 4:00 PM. The gallery is located at 512 Washington Street Southeast in Olympia.
