Thurston County, along with the cities of Tumwater, Olympia, and Lacey, are inviting property managers, landscapers, and stormwater contractors to a workshop on the maintenance of stormwater facilities.
The workshop is technical in nature, and will give participants knowledge of how to identify, inspect, and properly maintain stormwater facilities that are in private use.
The workshop will include a question-and-answer session about stormwater systems; the proper maintenance of infiltration galleries, swales, catch basins, wet and dry ponds, and other facilities; learning how to evaluate a project properly in order to keep from making expensive mistakes; how to identify and fix problems; how to file paperwork correctly to satisfy the requirements of local reporting; and stormwater regulations and practices that can be recommended to ensure clients comply with them.
Since there are limited places available at the workshop, people are asked to register ahead of time by going to the website.
Participants who complete the workshop will be eligible to have their business added to the online list of approved service providers maintained by Thurston County. Potential customers can find approved companies on the county’s website. Once attendees are listed, they might consider having the information added to their Letterheads.
The workshop is free, and will be held from 8:00 am until 1:00 pm this Saturday, October 27, at the main campus of the South Puget Sound Community College.
